Ravi Prakash
Systems Engineer

He comes to IDEO.org from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) where he worked as a Systems Engineer for eight years. At JPL, Ravi specialized in designing spacecraft landing systems and most recently helped land the Curiosity rover on Mars.
Ravi gained design experience in the social sector when he took a sabbatical from JPL to improve the process villagers in India use to extract oil from plants. This experience led him to realize he wanted to make a more direct impact in people’s lives. He now brings his problem solving skills to social innovation.
Ravi graduated with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and a M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
When Ravi isn't working, you can find him swimming, playing tennis, or just generally enjoying the outdoors.
