An interaction designer from IDEO, Mark Del Lima draws from a fine arts and film background to bring storytelling acumen and deep empathy to challenges from health to financial inclusion.

As principal interaction designer at IDEO San Francisco, he develops stories, UX, and UI for mobile, web, games, space installations, and broadcast media. With an expertise in graphics creation and production, he has contributed design and animation to nearly every medium, including co-authoring a book on Flash as part of the Show Me Flash series.

His career began at Apple Computer where he was part of the original development team for Final Cut Pro—now the de facto industry standard video editing and compositing application. He left to pursue work as a designer and animator, working for nearly every creative agency in the Bay Area. While at Orange Design, he and his team created user interfaces for two LucasArts games that were the first to utilize the Flash Player on the PlayStation platform.

His hands-on approach to visual storytelling and interface expression continue to be the major focus of his craft. He co-founded Ersatz Film in 2008 as a medium for a variety of film projects, including two feature films: Fruit Fly (2010) and I Am A Ghost (2013). After several years of collaborative work, he joined IDEO full time in 2010.
