This month, IDEO.org kicked off a project to redesign the e-toilet, a self cleaning public toilet. Funded by the Gates Foundation and partnering with Eram Scientific, the design team was tasked with understanding how we might make the e-toilet more user friendly.

IDEO.org team members Martin Schnitzer, Ravi Prakash, and Elise Guinee returned from two weeks of field research in Thiruvananthapuram, India speaking to users about how we might be able to improve the user experience of Eram’s e-toilet.
